Under the general direction of the Associate Chair, Continuing Professional Development, the incumbent provides support to the M.Eng program in the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Science in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. The position plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing the recruitment and admissions strategies for this program.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising students on academic and/or financial matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary
  • Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies and deadlines
  • Analyzing statistical information to inform enrollment projections and planning
  • Producing promotional and outreach materials
  • Reviewing and assessing admissions applications
  • Delivering student recruitment presentations

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum four years of related experience advising students within a post secondary environment
  • Experience with graduate student advising in an academic environment
  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking experience is required
  • Excellent computer proficiency, including intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. MS Word, Excel and Access). Excellent demonstrated knowledge of ROSI or similar student information system
  • Excellent communication (oral and written skills)
  • Excellent customer / client service skills, with proven ability to interact effectively with students and the public
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, tact and good judgement
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply guidelines
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and work with interruptions

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Familiarity with the University's policies and procedures, particularly those pertaining to the School of Graduate Studies
  • Knowledge and experience in student recruitment
  • General knowledge of immigration and visa requirements, as well as knowledge of Universities internationally

Note: This is a term position ending in July 31, 2026.

Work Location: This role is not currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto’s Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.
