Job Description

Material Handler I

Pay: $20/hr.

Shift: Days

Position Summary:

A Material Handler works in a fast-paced environment in all areas of Logistics with the goal of meeting/exceeding both our internal and external customers’ expectation. These include but are not limited to: Picking and staging material, cycle counting and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

o Inventory Receipt and Storing of new approved materials.

o Picking and staging Work Orders from a pick list

o Operating material handling equipment

o Working in and out of a -20C Freezer and 5C Cold Room.

o Completes Material Request Forms & material movements for material requests including scrap execution

o Familiar with working and managing to Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)

o Supports real time inventory discrepancies, Research & identify root cause

o Assume responsibility for special projects assigned by the Team Leads, Supervisor and/or management.

o Perform frequent inventory, stock rotation and cycle counting.

o May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Working Conditions:

o Performs work of a highly repetitive nature.

o Will walk and may occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift up to 50 lbs.

o May handle “packaged” hazardous materials.

o The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

o Must be available to work any shift (with advance notice of shift change).

o Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.

o Must be able to lift 50lbs or more

Safety:

o Complying with all company safety regulations and procedures and report non-compliance.

o Serving as an effective safety steward by ensuring accurate reporting of near misses and attending safety trainings.

o Operating a safe work environment through continuous safety awareness and full compliance to all EHS programs and activities.

o Maintain compliance to PPE requirements

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

o Requires a minimum of 1 – 3 years related experience. Experience with Inventory Control is a plus.

o High School Diploma or equivalent required.

o Demonstrates strong communication skills

o Consistently demonstrates positive and productive results

o Interacts equally well with all employees applying strong social skills

o Follows written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently

o Ability to consistently meet deadlines

o Personable, and perpetuates a can-do positive attitude

o Ability to work in a fast paced environment

o Computer skills are required with the ability to learn and retain new computer programs

Preferred Qualifications:

o Experience using a forklift.

o Experience with QAD (Oracle) software.

o Experience with Continuous Improvement and 5S theories and principles.

o Experience with Microsoft tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $15.08–$25.14.
