The David C. Frederick Honors College (FHC) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled, highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support decision-making, improve student outcomes, enhance institutional performance, and inform strategic planning. They will work closely with all FHC departments to provide insights and actionable recommendations based on data-driven analysis. Strong analytical and technical skills, problem solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, and clear communication skills when presenting data reporting results to FHC stakeholders are required The FHC Data Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting academic and administrative decisions by interpreting complex data related to student performance, enrollment, retention, and institutional performance.

Job Summary

Oversees the operations of the student records function; the storage, maintenance, and processing of requests for electronic, hard-copy, and microfilm/microfiche student transcripts and enrollment verification requests; and internal and external special requests for transcripts and verification services. Assists in the conversion of historical transcripts and serves as a liaison between higher-level management and assigned employees. Contributes to strategic planning and identifies improvement opportunities.

Essential Functions

Data collection and Management: Collect, clean, and organize large datasets from various sources, ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness to maintain the integrity of datasets. Data analysis and Reporting: Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis to support FHC initiatives, such as student enrollment trends, retention rates, academic performance. Analyze and interpret complex data sets to identify patterns, correlations, and trends relevant to the FHC’s goals and the Plan for Pitt. Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present findings to stakeholders, including university leadership and departmental heads.Support Decision-Making: Provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership, departments, academic performance, student retention, recruitment, and other key operational areas. Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work with FHC departments including admissions, student services, and IT to understand data needs and priorities. Predictive Modeling and Forecasting: Utilize predictive analytics and statistical modeling techniques to forecast enrollment trends, retention rates, and other key metrics. Build and implement models to predict student success, at-risk students, and potential interventions to improve outcomes. Compliance and Data Privacy: Ensure that all data collection and analysis processes comply with relevant laws and institutional policies, including FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and other privacy standards.

Physical Effort

Duties are primarily sedentary however the candidate may be required to sit or stand for a period of time. Must be able to lift objects up to 20 pounds.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification Proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably within the higher education sector. Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, Power BI). Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL, Access). Knowledge of statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques.

Work Schedule M-F 8:30 am- 5:00pm

Work Arrangement Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.

Hiring Range $72,000 - $77,000 annually
