Job Description

The Special Projects Department (SPD) is seeking a dedicated Security Supervisor to be based at the Auckland New Zealand Temple. This is a permanent full-time position reporting to the Temple Facilities Manager (TFM) and Area Security Manager (ASM).

The Security Supervisor plays a vital role in safeguarding both the sacred and temporal aspects of the temple and ensures the protection of the temple structure, its grounds, and all ancillary buildings, in accordance with standards established by the First Presidency. The role also involves ensuring the safety and security of temple employees, patrons, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Security Personnel: Manage and coordinate the activities of security personnel (including contracted security) to always ensure effective site coverage. This includes liaising with the security provider, reviewing schedules, and ensuring duties are carried out in line with site security protocols.
• Team Management & Training: Lead and manage the temple security team, ensuring all personnel are fully trained in security protocols and certified in first aid for medical emergencies.
• Utilize Security Systems: Operate and monitor electronic alarm systems and surveillance equipment to maintain a secure environment.
• Risk Mitigation: Collaborate with the TFM/ASM to recommend and implement procedures that minimize risks related to theft, vandalism, intrusion, and liability. This includes optimizing the use of approved surveillance and alarm systems.
• Incident Reporting: Complete and submit all security incident reports through the Church’s online SIR and GIR reporting systems. Maintain a detailed incident log and ensure timely communication of all security matters to the TFM/ASM.
• Liaison with Authorities: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement and fire prevention agencies. Ensure clear communication protocols are in place for emergency situations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the TFM/ASM.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in law enforcement or related field plus two years’ experience in law enforcement. Equivalent combination of relevant experience and qualifications may be considered
• Demonstrated leadership ability and training experience
• Computer literate
• First aid and CPR qualified
• Experience in using, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarms and surveillance equipment (highly preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as required
• Physical and mental ability to attend to the rigors of security work (completion of medical assessment is required)
