Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Human Resources Generalist – Employee Relations plays a critical role in supporting HR functions across the company. This experienced role focuses on employee relations and supports a corporate workforce of approximately 750 employees, fostering a positive, compliant, and high-performance environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting & Onboarding:
- Support recruitment efforts, including job description development and candidate screening occasionally
- Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including conducting orientations and ensuring all required documentation is completed.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and policy development
Employee Relations:
- Lead and resolve complex employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries and issues.
- Assist in resolving employee concerns and conflicts in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Support employee development and retention programs (continuing education, leadership and skills training, company culture initiatives, etc.)
HR Administration:
- Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in Workday HRIS (Human Resources Information System).
- Prepare HR-related documents, such as employment contracts, offer letters, and performance evaluations.
- Support the data collection and reporting activities at each point of the full employee lifecycle
- Assuring HRIS System has updated headcount budgets based on current state and future strategy
- Provide executive leadership with all HR and Employee related reports including all headcount, attrition rates, turnover trends and change management reports
- Maintain HRIS System with all divisional employee reviews and KPI metrics
- Daily updating and auditing of personnel files
Benefits and Compensation:
- Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
- Collaborate with benefits and payroll teams to ensure seamless employee experience
- Assist with compensation analysis and participate in salary survey data collection.
Compliance and Policy Implementation:
- Administer and ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, FSA, and other leave programs.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Analyzing market data sets, position profiling characteristics, and compensation surveys to identify trends and to make appropriate earning recommendations
- Review and execute PIP - Performance Improvement Plans at the direction of the Director of Human Resources
- Audit System compliance
Performance Management:
- Partner with leadership on performance management, coaching, and corrective action
- Coordinate employee training sessions and professional development programs.
- Track employee training requirements and compliance.
- Supporting and recommending reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics
- Support all Change management and succession planning initiatives at the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field
- 5+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in employee relations.
- Experience in the transportation or logistics industry strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of HRIS systems, employment law, and compliance.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with keen attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Timely follow-through
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
- Any of the following certification paths: SHRM, SPHR, PHR, IPMA-CP, IPMA-CS
- Experience supporting a multi-site or distributed workforce.
