Commercial Engineering Requirements Supervisor – Commercial Vehicles Special Vehicle Engineering is looking for qualified candidates with engineering experience in all automotive functional areas and systems to develop internal Commercial engineering requirements for our products to meet the expectations of both our upfitters, ease of upfit, and our customers, functional capability and durability.
- Leverage partnership with Sales & Marketing, FCSD, Product Planning, and other Ford PD organizations, including our internal CV SVE Application Engineering team, to identify Commercial requirements, including Police, supporting upfitter/end customer needs and drive program product content to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Work with upfitters and end user customers to co-create vocational requirements to deliver chassis content and meet customer demand.
- Work with Ford of Europe (FoE) requirements counterpart to align on common North America and FoE Commercial Vehicle and Police requirements.
- Release the new Commercial and Police requirements into FEDE.
- Lead publication of Ford’s Incomplete Vehicle Manuals (IVM’s) for applicable Ford incomplete vehicles.
- Progress Ford CV leadership position through effective and timely external communication with upfitters and end user customers.
- Champion upfitter/end customer needs in VPATS, VADR, SARs, MIMs, etc. forums.
- Create/publish formal Commercial Vehicles engineering requirements/design guidelines to prevent issue recurrence.
- Support Commercial Vehicle Product Conference Events, including annual Spring and Fall National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Work Truck Week, as well as Commercial Vehicle Product Sub-Committees such as AISBM, ACCNA, SCEMC, TSCMG and VBMD.
- Mentor GSR direct report.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field of study
- 4+ years of automotive or engineering experience
- D&R and/or Vehicle Engineering experience (Software, EESE, BEV, Netcom, VO End of Line preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Ford Product Development and VCSE, P/T and VE organizations
- Knowledge using Ford FEDE system and release of engineering requirements.
- Experienced in DFMEAs, vehicle requirement generation, and engineering sign-off processes.
- Skilled in technical publication creation and documentation.
- Technical knowledge of Commercial Vehicles and upfitter industry and knowledge of Regulatory Requirements (FMVSS/CMVSS, Emissions, etc.)
- Knowledge of Ford commercial vehicle offerings and upfitter demand across all CV vocations.
- Experience with CV industry associations and committees such as NTEA, ICUEE, AISBM, AMD, etc.
- Outstanding communications skills both oral and written – summarize & articulate pertinent issues
- Strong interpersonal skills a must – with outstanding Commercial Vehicles customer mindset to understand both upfitter/end customer upfit concerns and/or issues.
- Problem solving mindset – strong desire to help customers with their requirements, have a “can do” attitude, help resolve issues between Ford & upfitter and/or end user
- Willingness to occasional travel to meet with upfitters and/or end users
