Ideal candidates will have expertise in I&C design and proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant3D, Revit, and BIM field services. This position provides a meaningful opportunity to apply technical skills, expand knowledge across public and private sectors, and support environmental conservation efforts. Significant professional growth and collaboration with local and national teams await the right individual.

Responsibilities include drafting and design support, from concept to detailed development, with tasks such as Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), control wiring schematics, control panel layouts, network architecture diagrams, BIM designs, bid package preparation, field investigations, and construction support. Project work will focus on power distribution, process control systems, industrial networks, and compliance with client design standards.

We seek candidates passionate about innovation, teamwork, and mentorship—individuals eager to build, connect with new professionals, and contribute to industrial and municipal electrical projects in the water and wastewater sectors.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage instrumentation and controls design documentation for AutoCAD and Bentley projects.
  • Utilize Bentley and AutoCAD software to create and update P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, control panel layouts, installation details, and network diagrams for electrical and control system designs.
  • Design and prepare BIM layouts for equipment, control panels, and instruments, progressing from conceptual design to final construction documents.
  • Review, interpret, and update design drawings with necessary markups.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes and safety standards, including NEC, ISA, and NFPA.
  • Work closely with I&C, process, electrical, and civil engineers to develop cohesive, precise system designs.
  • Coordinate design efforts across multidisciplinary teams, integrating updates and modifications as needed.
  • Participate in field investigations, construction support, and commissioning activities.
  • Supervise and mentor junior designers, providing guidance on the drawing layout process and its functionality.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience as an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Bentley for producing design and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with SQL database-oriented data management in production drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards commonly used by large municipal organizations.
  • Solid understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC) and its applications.
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to communicate ideas effectively, both visually and verbally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer.
  • Background in municipal water/wastewater or industrial project work.
  • Proficiency in Process and Instrumentation Control Diagram (P&ID) development using AutoCAD Plant 3D or Bentley OpenPlant PID.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards, including NFPA 70.
