This opportunity became available due to a backfill and will support inpatient audit and education efforts across more than 25 facilities. This is a high-impact role best suited for a detail-oriented and self-driven coding professional who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Job Description:

The Regional Coding Supervisor is responsible for overseeing inpatient coding audit outcomes, identifying education opportunities, and collaborating with coders to drive accuracy and compliance. While this is a leadership-level position, there are no direct reports—the focus is on mentorship, process improvement, and audit readiness across multiple hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily DRG validation and post-bill audit reviews across multiple facilities
  • Analyze coder performance, track audit outcomes, and identify quality trends
  • Develop and deliver education based on audit findings and productivity gaps
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations to internal leadership
  • Write appeal letters and support rebuttals alongside coders
  • Monitor DRG shifts and prepare weekly/monthly trend reports
  • Use tools such as Excel (pivot tables), PowerPoint, and multiple EMRs (Cerner, Meditech, PBar)
  • Participate in internal audits and collaborate on coding process improvement

Qualifications:

Required:

  • CCS or RHIA certification
  • Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • 5–8 years of inpatient facility coding experience
  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS
  • Experience in education, quality assurance, or audit roles
  • Tech-savvy with strong Excel and presentation skills
  • Willingness to work extended hours (up to 60–80 hours during peak periods)

Preferred:

  • RHIA credential and bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience in a multi-facility or corporate coding environment
