The NGLs Trading Operations Analyst position supports the NGL Commercial team by providing trading and commercial related analysis. NGL Trading supports our business throughout the US, supporting our refinery requirements as well as Bakken and Rockies Frac activity. Actively assists in achieving goals and strategies with a focus on analysis, commercial deal support, presentations, and projects. NGL Trading Analyst interfaces externally in the physical market by executing purchases, sales, buy-sells, and exchanges for propane, normal butane, isobutane, and naphtha. The Analyst is responsible for consolidating and analyzing commercial data, market data, performance metrics, etc. to inform the business and support effective decision making on operations and strategy. This position requires strong analytical and excellent communication skills, together with a strong understanding and proficiency in Excel. The applicant should be organized, self-motivated, team-oriented, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset. Problem solving, critical thinking skills, and personal resilience are a must.

This NGLs Trading Operations Analyst position should be viewed as a growth opportunity for a highly motivated individual that has a strong aptitude and a keen interest for a commercial career. This role will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to gain an understanding of NGL supply and trading while performing a complex and critical function on a growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides analytical support to the team in identifying, evaluating, and modeling optimization opportunities for propane, normal butane, isobutane, and naphtha.
  • Build and maintain supply and demand models as well as values associated.
  • Develops models and commercial focused tools, dashboards and reports.
  • Provides analytical support in the modeling and evaluation of new business opportunities and strategy development.
  • Executes a variety of ad-hoc analytical work and presentations as required by Commercial and leadership.
  • Acquires and maintains external and internal information and resources to develop market intelligence in support of Commercial and various MPC business units..
  • Assist in risk management and position exposure.
  • Develops models and commercial focused tools, provides analysis for reporting, presentations, and special projects.
  • Provides support to traders, schedulers, and others to identify, evaluate, and model optimization opportunities related to pricing, transportation, and other commercial terms, primarily to help facilitate decision making.
  • Interfaces with back and mid-office in new customer setup and reconciliation of commercial activities.
  • Interfaces with other organizational analysts to provide analysis and reporting across business functions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, marketing, economics, accounting, or related field of study.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in trading analytics, risk, scheduling, or other commercial facing roles.
  • Exposure to both physical and financial trading preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to present to and influence management crucial.
  • Experience building dashboards in Tableau preferred.
  • NGL Commercial Operations knowledge & experience preferred.

Travel Estimate: ~15%

This position grade may vary depending on candidate experience. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
