Job Title: Remote Outpatient Coding Supervisor

Role Overview:
The organization is seeking a hands-on, high-performing Outpatient Coding Supervisor to oversee a team of 15 coders. This is a contract-to-hire role with conversion targeted between 90 to 120 days. The Supervisor will lead day-to-day operations, coder performance tracking, and onboarding of new team members, with a strong focus on productivity, accuracy, and staff development.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Directly manage a 15-person outpatient coding team
- Oversee timekeeping, PTO approvals, and weekly payroll processing
- Supervise daily workflows, including queue management, productivity, and quality control
- Use Excel-based tracking tools to monitor:
- Coding accuracy
- Productivity
- Modifiers and secondary diagnoses
- Dispositions and query trends
- Lead onboarding and mentorship of 7 new coders through a structured 90-day training plan:
- Week 1: Live, instructor-led virtual training sessions
- Days 1–30: Target of 95% accuracy with 2 charts/hour (OBS/SDS focus)
- Days 31–60: Gradual ramp to 5 charts/hour
- Days 61–90: Coders manage queues independently, with Supervisor as support
- Conduct weekly 1:1s and daily touchpoints during week one
- Provide real-time feedback and coaching during live chart reviews
- Present weekly progress updates to leadership
- Participate in hiring process: interviews, testing, and candidate selection
- Maintain open lines of communication with leadership and coders via virtual meetings
Key Requirements:
- Strong foundation in facility-level outpatient CPT coding, especially:
- General Surgery
- Neurology (foot and spine)
- Obstetrics
- Podiatry
- Endoscopy procedures
- Must have supervisory or lead experience; high performers in Team Lead roles will be considered
- Proficiency in:
- EPIC
- 3M Encompass
- (Preferred) Dolby
- Must hold AAPC, AHIMA, RHIT, or RHIA credential
- Highly organized and responsive; must be comfortable with camera-on virtual leadership

- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (some flex within daytime hours is okay)
- Training: Daily sessions with leadership during week 1
