Job Description

As an Application Engineer II here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of operational advanced control applications developed for plant processes, primarily in the mining sector, with an emphasis on support and continuous improvement. They will be in charge of the design, support, evaluation, and implementation of advanced control applications, seeking new opportunities to deliver value to the client through technical control solutions - using model-based predictive control - and identifying operating conditions in the processes where they operate.

They are capable of taking ownership of the developed applications, ensuring their correct performance, understanding the processes where they operate quickly and effectively, and applying their experience to maintain and/or improve that performance, designing and implementing appropriate APC strategies for each issue. Lastly, but not least, they are capable of sharing technical knowledge with different professionals within the organization, with a primary emphasis on the continuous improvement team and project development team.

Responsibilities

Main Responsabilities:

• Ensure maximum performance of the processes controlled by advanced control applications based on MPC operating in various plants, primarily large mining companies. It is required to support the continuous improvement process of both the applications and the supporting and/or complementary software, to ensure good behavior and performance, always in line with our clients' performance and productivity objectives.
• Specifically:
• Ensure the correct performance of the advanced control applications in their charge.
• Participation in multidisciplinary teams to develop process control solutions.
• Identification, diagnosis, and resolution of incidents, requirements, and/or problems associated with Advanced Control Applications.
• Participate in activities for the development of new APC.
• Follow the activity registration procedures and protocols established with clients.

Alternative:

• Development of new advanced control applications, both in mining-metallurgical processes and in other industries.

• Communicate technical concepts/solutions to internal and external clients; e.g., accurately reviewing client specifications and having the talent to identify improvement opportunities, risks, and resources needed to achieve results.
• Communicate the characteristics and benefits of the developed solutions and services to clients.

• Communicate professionally in writing and verbally with the work team, management, and clients.
• Convert clients' technical requirements into solutions.

Qualifications

Must Have

• Engineers in the field of Electronics, Automatic Control, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or related. Desirable postgraduate degree in their study areas, mainly oriented to process control and/or automation.
• At least 3 years of experience in an industrial environment oriented to process optimization using control tools.
• Experience in development/maintenance of Advanced Process Control (APC).
• Experience in process optimization technologies. (Desirable)
• Experience in mining processes. (Desirable)

Nice to have

• Demonstrable knowledge of Automatic Control (Control concepts, PIDs, signal sampling, identification of linear models, etc.) (mandatory)
• Good written and reading English skills (mandatory)
• Spoken English skills (desirable)
• Programming languages (Python, C#, C++)
• Database management (Mongo DB, SQL, MySQL, SQL Server) (desirable)
• Knowledge of mining processes (desirable)
• Knowledge in Model-Based Predictive Control (desirable)
