Abeka Digital Animation Team Lead

The Digital Animation Team Lead will facilitate the artistic and technical direction and quality of all 2D and 3D animation projects created by the digital illustration team, aligning initiatives and products with Abeka¿s vision and mission under the direction of the Assistant Product Manager for Digital. This role will coordinate the direction for art and animation development, ensuring that all projects align with product specifications, meet industry standards, and maintain a consistent visual direction across both 2D and 3D mediums. The Team Lead will also be crucial in the professional development of the animation team, fostering collaboration, and optimizing workflows for efficiency and quality in both 2D and 3D production.

Coordinate Digital Artistic Direction & Standards

Articulate and maintain a clear and consistent artistic vision for all animation projects, aligning with the educational content and product specifications provided by Product Managers under the direction of the Assistant Product Manager for Digital. Establish and support the adoption of industry best practices and standards in animation techniques and workflows across the team. Critique animation work, providing constructive feedback to ensure high artistic quality and adherence to the established visual style. Conduct regular art meetings to discuss project aesthetics, share inspiration, and ensure a unified creative approach. Stay current with illustration and animation industry standards and software advancements.

Develop Digital Animation Team

Provide mentorship and guidance to staff and student digital animators, fostering their artistic and technical growth. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss progress, provide feedback, and support individualized professional development goals in coordinator with the Quality Manager. Identify individual and team training needs and develop opportunities for skill enhancement, including art demonstrations and workshops. Promote a collaborative and positive team environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing. Contribute to performance reviews and provide constructive feedback on the artistic contributions of team members.

Optimize Workflow & Project Development

Collaborate closely with the Assistant Product Manager for Digital and Product Managers to understand project goals, specifications, and timelines. Develop and standardize efficient animation workflows and processes to maximize productivity and maintain consistent quality. Coordinate animation projects ensuring they are appropriately scoped, resourced, and tracked to meet deadlines. Identify and implement strategies for improving team efficiency and reducing bottlenecks in the animation production pipeline. Schedule and facilitate necessary meetings, including project kick-offs, art reviews, and team updates.

Ensure Quality Assurance & Collaboration

Oversee the quality assurance process for all animations, ensuring they meet technical specifications and artistic standards. Proactively communicate project progress, potential challenges, and solutions to the Assistant Product Manager for Digital. Ensure all animated content aligns with project guidelines and requirements. Communicate frequently, clearly, and tactfully with fellow editorial team members, Product Managers, Assistant Product Manager for Digital, Digital Product Coordinator, and Digital team members.

Education

Required Education:

College Degree - Graphic Design

Preferred Education: Master's Degree - Graphic Design

Work Experience

Required Experience:

5+ years in animation

Preferred Experience: 3+ years in Abeka Publishing
