As a Manager I within the Engineering group, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and motivating your team members to meet all safety, quality, and on-time performance goals while overseeing technical operations and ensuring adherence to all NSF policies and procedures.

  • Lead, motivate, and guide team members to ensure all quality, safety, and productivity goals are met.
  • Meet with team members to facilitate career growth and adherence to annual performance goals.
  • Perform mid-year and end-year reviews with team members and provide feedback and guidance to support NSF core values.
  • Work with fellow managers to interview and select potential candidates to develop a strong team.
  • Oversee technical operations and provide support as needed to ensure quality testing and address potential errors / retests.
  • Ensure tests / jobs are assigned promptly and TAT’s are met while keeping client / customer satisfaction in mind by addressing tests / jobs that are not meeting on-time performance goals in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with and provide timely responses to other departments within NSF.
  • Perform monthly 6S audits and ensure results are uploaded to the Teams folder on time.
  • Assure all HSSE policies are adhered to. Assure incidents are documented and reported properly.
  • Keep training matrix up to date for quality and tracking purposes.
  • Facilitate cross-training of team members to ensure adequate coverage for all tests.
  • Participate in and provide support for all internal and external audits.
  • Review, write, and/or sign-off on SOPs to maintain accurate testing procedures.
  • Monitor Qualer and group equipment to ensure correct and on-time calibrations.
  • Monitor peer review rejection rates of team members and address repeated rejections to maintain quality of testing.
  • Maintain and track group budget to allocate spending appropriately.
  • Order and maintain supplies to support testing.
  • Develop process improvements to increase productivity, quality, and efficiency of group operations. Provide feedback to and discuss any potential changes with Engineering Senior Manager.
  • Perform, develop, and/or provide training for testing as needed to support group operations.
  • Assist with the development / training for LabWare – new LIMS system
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Associate degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline or a diploma / GED with supervisor / Managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to develop, read, understand, and follow standards, SOP’s, and test methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated in completing assignments correctly and on schedule.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Proficient in NSF Applications (Sample Manager (LIMS), Qualer, Insight, DaCs, Warehouse Manager, Master Control).
  • Proficient in the use of PC/Windows software and Microsoft Office Suits (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage performance and provide guidance to staff
  • Ability to adequately schedule work to meet customer needs
  • High Client focus mindset (Internal and External)
  • Knowledgeable of the specific standards, methods, and testing within the Engineering department.
  • Knowledge and experience with plumbing products and household appliances

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
  • 5 years supervisory or management experience.
  • Three years testing experience in the Engineering department.
  • Knowledgeable with laboratory QA/QC programs.
  • Experience in Quality Control testing.
  • Experience with internal/external audits.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with standard and accreditation bodies and related testing.
  • Ability to develop budgets

PHYSICAL / SAFETY DEMANDS:

  • Light to heavy physical effort required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Sitting and / or standing for long periods of time may be necessary.
  • Working with various solvents, acids, and bases as needed.
  • Safety glasses and steel toes must always be worn in lab areas.
  • Proper PPE (gloves, hard hats, face shields) needed during specific testing.
