Job Summary
The Legal Assistant II will provide legal secretarial and administrative support to Legal & Compliance Department staff, attorneys, paralegals, and officers. Coordinate and assist with state insurance division audits. Assist with the preparation of legal reports and prepare communications, memos and documents for department and division management. Coordinate the location of documents and records through legal indexing system and records research. Maintain filing, tracking and disposition system for legal documents, communications and records. Appropriately establish, maintain and release Legal and/or Litigation Holds. Accept, track and coordinate payment/receipt of legal bills, settlement payments and reimbursements..
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Knowledge & Skills: Applies working knowledge of industry, company and product terminology, department processes and procedures. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite; event/meeting agendas, scheduling and coordination; travel coordination; confidential records maintenance. Draws on department and company technology tools and well-developed internal resource network to accomplish business objectives. Ability to properly interpret state and federal statutes, regulations and case law.
- Job Complexity & Judgment: Effectively applies solid administrative, business and legal knowledge to areas supported. Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of areas supported. Works on assignments that are semi-routine. Works within defined procedures but is able to deviate from normal routine. Demonstrates ability to identify issues, investigate and make appropriate recommendations for problems of moderate complexity. Understands and effectively utilizes escalation pathways.
- Independence & Supervision required: Typically receives general instructions on routine work. May require detailed instructions on new assignments. Independently seeks opportunities to increase legal knowledge and build business acumen. Displays appropriate sense of urgency in accomplishing goals; persists in taking action and remains focused on individual results. Measures own work to track progress against goals and seeks assistance choosing corrective actions to ensure results.
- Interaction & Influence: Communicate and interact with persons at all levels in the organization, industry and community. Exhibits confidence and truthfulness in making and sharing decisions. Continues to build relationships outside the department and models positive relationships for the team. Keeps current on internal practices and policies in customer service and customer care; is compliant with internal best practices and standards. Motivates and acts as a mentor by providing training and guidance to other Legal Assistants.
Skills and Background You’ll Need
- Experience: 4+ years of progressively responsible administrative work experience in a law office, corporate law department, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
- Education: Associate’s degree preferred.

- Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance.
Salary Range:
32.33 - 43.03
