Sr. MACHINE PARTS INSPECTOR Moog Space and Defense Group Salt Lake City, Utah

This is an exciting opportunity to join our production facility for missile systems and defense controls!

The Space and Defense Group in Salt Lake City, UT is looking for a Sr Machine Parts Inspector to assure that complex mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic parts and assemblies are in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications, and that all processes are performed in accordance with applicable specifications.

Here’s what you’ll be working on day to day:

  • Programming and manual operation of CMM, CNC Optical comparators, digital smart scopes, laser micrometer, and height gage
  • Use of micrometers, calipers, indicators, thread gages, set rings, thread wires, gage blocks, height gages, bore gages, precision squares, angle plates, v-blocks, etc.
  • Performing complex surface plate layout inspections as required
  • Reviewing and preparing first article inspection reports
  • Performing hardness testing and spring testing
  • Reviewing material and process physical certifications
  • Documenting discrepancies and out of tolerance conditions
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints in accordance with ASME Y-14.5
  • Training, or overseeing training, of new employees in the group
  • Identifying and submitting capital equipment requests
  • Interfacing with customers, suppliers, and DCMA
  • Working with suppliers to ensure commonality in measurement results
  • Daily planning, organization, and assignments of inspection personnel
  • Working on complex assignments where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations
  • This is the most senior inspector position at the site and is the “final say” on acceptability to print for any suspect hardware.

We'll be looking for you to have the following:

  • Minimum of 9 years hands-on inspection experience
  • Due to Federal Contract Obligations, must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years hands-on inspection experience
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 and AS9102
  • ASQ Quality Inspector Certification (CQI) is desired but not required
  • Prior supervisory and leadership experience is desired but not required
  • Experience with military and commercial specifications
  • Possess a working knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, test, and procurement processes.

Salary Range Transparency:

Salt Lake City, UT $40.87–$45.68 Hourly

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
