This is a hybrid role in Ottawa, ON.

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate Security Champions Community Lead to lead the implementation and continuous success of our Security Champions Program. The candidate will be responsible for supporting a community of Security Champions within our organization, who will work collaboratively to improve and promote the information and application security practices across the company. The Security Champions Community Lead will also be responsible for organizing events; and obtaining and ensuring continuous management support and driving the overall success of the program.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Extend and implement a Security Champions Program strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead a community of Security Champions within the organization.
  • Establish and lead the Security Champions Program committee.
  • Coordinate the community efforts with other BUs and Global organization communities as needed.
  • Create and organize events to promote security awareness and best practices within the Security Champions community and the engineering organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to Security Champions.
  • Align with engineering management on the identification, selection, and training of Security Champions.
  • Work with management to obtain support and resources for the program.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of information security practices and trends and apply this to the program.
  • Create a space that fosters collaboration amongst Security Champions.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the program aligns with organizational goals.
  • Foster an overall culture of security awareness and best practices.
  • Define and implement mechanisms to measure and report on the impact of the Security Champions Program.

Special Position Requirements

Schedule: Core business hours Monday-Friday, with occasional availability for meetings with non-US time zones, including Europe, India and Asia-Pacific.

Travel: Ability to travel occasionally (up to 10%) for team meetings or conferences.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate can communicate with and understand the challenges engineers face but can also understand and communicate effectively with management on every level.
  • Passion for security and a desire to educate and engage others.
  • Understanding of information and application security practices and trends.
  • Previous experience of work in software development organization
  • Experience organizing events and competitions.
  • Experience driving community engagement.
  • Experience measuring program success and adapting programs based on this to reach their highest potential.
  • Ability to work in a continuously changing and multicultural environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Other qualifications that are a preference including,

  • Previous software engineering experience.
  • Previous experience as a security professional.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
