Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
Administers and manages the plant operations safety and quality programs, to provide a safety and quality minded working environment.
- Responsible for promoting a working environment that incorporates a teamwork philosophy.
- Coaches the work teams and develops decision-making criteria adhering to the best practices.
- Assists in the selection, training, evaluations, and promoting of work team employees to provide effective and efficient operations.
- Will be required to attend meetings as necessary.
- Participates in process improvement efforts and helps direct process personnel on a day-to-day basis.
- Responsible for incorporating ISO principles into daily quality culture.(S.O.S checklists and planning sheets etc)
- Works towards developing and transferring of traditionally non-manufacturing skills to work team members, as needed, to build work team self-sufficiency.
- Responsible for daily shift reports.
- Assumes other duties as defined by the Plant Manager/Production Manager.
- Responsible for putting in machine time.
- Meet daily with maintenance personnel to schedule equipment changes, predictive and preventive maintenance planning.
- Prioritize the rework material for teams.
- Tour production floor on a daily basis creating a list of SQF tasks.
- Must be open-minded to change and have the creative ability to continuously think of new ways to be more efficient.
- Coaching, mentoring, evaluating and developing team members.
- Complete a SOS checklist with off going Team Leader. Checklist to include: inspection for housekeeping, film quality, daily management boards filled out, 6S areas, trash removed and make sure early in the shift job changes are planned out.
- Meet with Supervisor and go over the events for the shift. Get training documentation, PM list and schedules for the lines.
- Lead pre-shift meeting. (Starting with safety tip and toolbox talk, get others to participate in the safety tip by asking if anyone has one they would like to bring up, discuss events of the day, distribute PM list and line schedules.)
- Responsible for performing and documenting completed training with Operators, on the shift, every day.
- Get involved in changeovers and die shims so that the more technical training can be done.
- Sign off in the lab that you completed your visual QA check of all lines every four hours.
- Empty the lab trash and yellow trash cart towards the end of shift.
- Turn all your training and completed PM’s into the Supervisor.
- Help with labs to insure they get entered on time.
- Do your walk around with the oncoming Team Lead.
- Enter WEBEFF for the shift.
- Learn Supervisor duties and fill in for Section Leaders and Supervisor when needed.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
- Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.)
- Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Responsible for completing and managing others completion of monthly observations and near misses.

- Sound administrative skills with previous management/supervisory experience.

- Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations.
- Must have excellent attendance and safety records.
- Knowledge of ISO and SQF uses and policies
Additional Info
The Team Leader directs all the day-to-day activities of the plant consistent with company schedules and policies. The Team Leader will monitor and coordinate effective and efficient communication to Supervisors, Section Leaders and Operators through proactive, high participation, work team involvement, and is responsible for the administration of policies and practices of the Company. In addition, the Team Leader will implement the Berry Global values and will be a major reason we achieve our vision of being the dominant supplier of value added films in the industry.
