Job Description

Coating Operator: Join Our Team!

Are you a hands-on, problem-solving individual with a knack for precision and a commitment to quality? We're looking for a Coating Operator to join our dynamic production team. In this role, you'll be essential to our coating line operations, taking ownership of critical processes and ensuring top-notch product delivery.

As a Coating Operator, you'll have the opportunity to work across various workstations, including the face unwind, liner unwind, die, main console/winder, and quality lab. If you're proficient on multiple coating assets, that's a huge plus! Shift 6PM-6AM (Fri-Sun e/o Thurs)

Starting hiring rate: $19.50/hr plus $3.75/hr shift differential

What You'll Do:

  • Lead machine setups and changeovers, ensuring smooth transitions and optimal efficiency.
  • Problem-solve on the fly, making timely decisions and adjustments to keep production flowing.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance (PMs) to maximize machine uptime.
  • Load raw materials and unload finished products, maintaining a steady workflow.
  • Control machine cycles, varying and modifying them as needed to meet production goals.
  • Perform routine quality checks using standard measuring devices, making judgments against various standards to ensure product excellence.
  • Meet production schedules and program sequences for optimal productivity.
  • Monitor critical controls (meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures) to ensure adherence to production specifications and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and report malfunctions or abnormalities, making minor adjustments and repairs to equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
  • Adjust setups and process operations to optimize performance.
  • Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement, actively seeking ways to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve processes.
  • Collaborate with your team to achieve department and site goals, contributing to team decision-making, and assisting with project work.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all health, safety, and housekeeping procedures.
  • Participate in all required training to further develop your skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: High school diploma/GED OR 3 years of manufacturing experience (preferred).
  • Skills: Ability to follow written and oral instructions, strong computer proficiency (especially MFG Pro), and a demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability.
  • Mindset: A core value for safety, a strong service and quality focus (including root cause analysis and team education), proficiency in job tasks, willingness to learn and cross-train, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Availability: Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.

Essential physical requirements for work:

  • Movement: May require the ability to stand/walk for up to 80% of your shift, with frequent pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and squatting 50% of the time

  • Environment: May require being comfortable working in an environment with varying temperatures and humidity.
