We are looking for a talented and curious technical writer who is passionate about creating compelling content that makes our end users successful.

As a lead technical writer at Guidewire, you will use your ability to grasp technical concepts and convert complex information and procedures into content that speaks to the user. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create clear, accurate, and engaging documentation for our cloud products.

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, strong technical and writing skills, a hands-on approach, and a self-motivated attitude. Expect to work in a fast-changing and flexible environment where collaboration is key.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers to understand our products and target audience
  • Create and maintain developer documentation for our APIs, SDKs, and other predictive analytics solutions
  • Supplement documentation with infographics, videos, how-to guides, contextual assistance, and release notes
  • Participate in initiatives to make our content more impactful and relevant

Required skills and experience

  • 5+ years of experience creating technical documentation for enterprise software, cloud products, or developer tools
  • At least 2 years of experience creating developer documentation for APIs, with tutorials and code samples
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in technical communication, information architecture, and information delivery
  • Ability to gather information in a variety of ways - read and understand code, experiment with the application, or collaborate with subject matter experts
  • Passion for learning and adopting new technologies, including those related to Generative AI
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
  • BA/BS in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or other related fields, or comparable experience
  • Preferably, you also have some of the following:
  • Experience creating code samples in Python, R, or C#
  • Knowledge of Markdown, XML, or DITA
  • Experience with Paligo or static site generators such as Docusaurus
  • Familiarity with web applications, cloud platforms, predictive analytics, and AI concepts
  • Experience creating end-to-end developer-focused solutions that span multiple areas
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience creating videos, walk-throughs, interactive tutorials, and other forms of user assistance

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $107,000 - $194,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
