Temporary Trading Operations Specialist

Baird is looking for a highly-motivated associate to join the Operations Department as a Trading Operations Specialist. This individual will be a part of our Purchase and Sales team. As a Trading Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exemplary client service, monitoring, matching and settling dealer trades, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced, highly-visible environment. They are also in charge of troubleshooting trade issues when they arise and loop in the necessary parties for resolution.

As a Temporary Trading Operations Specialist, you will:

  • Provide high value service to internal and external clients in an environment that promotes Baird’s culture and the Operations mission and values statement.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations, Baird policies, and department procedures and policies.
  • Answer and/or initiate Financial Advisor and Client Specialist contact; answer routine questions and follow through on requests.
  • Contribute to productivity, efficiency and effectiveness improvements to drive exceptional client service and risk mitigation.
  • Work on special team projects or support other team members in their efforts.
  • Communicate directly with institutional clients to obtain trade allocation details and to efficiently and effectively research and resolve trade-related issues. Extremely accurate allocation of high volumes of fixed income and equity trades into Bloomberg and Fidessa.
  • Reconcile the OMS (Bloomberg/Fidessa) trading positions with positions of the backoffice system (Beta), ensuring that Baird is accurately reflecting current positions to avoid late or inaccurate institutional client trade billings and to avoid unexpected positions that could result in losses to the firm.
  • Expedite efficient and effective resolution of street side contract trade breaks. Ensure accurate acceptance or rejection of street side trades with Baird’s counterparties using ACT, GEMS, NASDAQ/ORF, and RTTM-CMU. Address x-clearing trade issues prior to settlement date and expedite Fed settlement through netting processes.
  • Act as liaison between the cashiering department, Baird traders and the contra parties to resolve settlement issues on settlement date.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Position Specifics:

  • Temporary position with anticipated commitment through 12/31/2025 with the possibility to extend.
  • Full time hours, Monday-Friday
  • Normal business hours onsite in downtown Milwaukee headquarters.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or 2+ years of experience in a financial services operations role is a plus.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments; work under pressure and within deadlines to produce accurate, high-quality results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, monitor, and complete multiple tasks or projects, either independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, with the ability to effectively relate to work in a team-oriented setting.
  • Passion for providing high-value client service.
  • Ability to stay focused under pressure and to prioritize workload in order to effectively manage time.
  • Proven reliability in performance.
