To strengthen our Quality Systems & Governance department, we are looking for a talented profile to fill the position of: Quality Project Manager – Braine l’Alleud, Belgium

About the role

The main objective of a Quality Project Manager is to drive the transformation of the Quality practises by converting the department strategic objectives into successful project deliveries. PMs initiate, plan, execute, monitor and close projects to achieve intended benefits.

The PM ensure project goals and strategies are properly framed, scoped and delivered according to UCB’s standards, allowing timely and informed decision-making. PM assignments vary in scope, size, complexity. The PM should act as champions for project management techniques and processes, educating colleagues and sharing best practices across the organization.

You will work with

You will be part of a team of 4 Quality Project Managers. As Project Manager, you will partner with the Project Sponsor and play a leading role in the project team. They need to ensure strong communication among team members and with multiple stakeholders in different regions and departments, including external partners. This should ideally be managed through a comprehensive communication plan. Effective project communication and aligning the culture with UCB’s values are essential leadership components of the Project Manager’s role when working with cross-functional and diverse teams.

What you will do

Framing project goals and objectives

  • Drive the accomplishment of projects by using project management standards and processes where applicable
  • Determine the project goals, objectives and requirements based on guidelines from the Project Sponsor and define clear priorities. Ensure those are in line with UCB’s overall strategy/vision and covered in the project charter

Setting project and program planning baseline

  • Ensure appropriate project strategies are in place to meet the overall goals including a baseline plan (e.g. work breakdown structure, scope, scheduling) in a SMART business case (when applicable).

Project budgeting and resourcing

  • Design a clear resource management plan regarding future resourcing needs and monitor the budget
  • Create a change management plan to control for any changes in the project related to the project baseline and monitor the budget related to it (partner with Finance).
  • Apply project management processes throughout the project/program duration (e.g. planning update, roadmap, governance, data repository, ...)

Executing projects

  • Responsible for project execution through the team; this includes proactively identifying, mitigating, and escalating risks and issues while exploring and maximizing opportunities during all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Good use of UCB’s project processes, reporting and technology such as INTEGRATE, SharePoint, Launch Tracker and SAP.

Measuring project performance

  • Define and monitor project quality and performance including KPIs, feedback-based project reviews and transition management in line with UCB processes and standards.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through project reviews, ultimately managing the transition to steady state or next stage gate.

Communicating project information

  • Manage the project communication plan to identify the key messages, audiences, interfaces, timings, and mechanisms for effective communication to the organization. Partner with sponsors, stakeholders, and teams to establish a safe, collaborative environment.

Apply relevant knowledge

  • Build, apply and share knowledge and skills across the organization. The knowledge and skills can include biopharma and healthcare industry-knowledge, or rather function-specific skills (e.g. commercial, engineering, research, quality, …).

Best practices

  • Drive industry best practices (initiate, plan, execute, monitor/control, close) by contributing lessons learned, challenges, solutions and involvement in process improvement projects.
  • Train colleagues on project management best practices and processes as needed.

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree or an education in a relevant discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Fluent English communication (oral and written); any additional languages are a plus.
  • Possess extensive experience working with Microsoft Office and Project Management tools
  • Excelling in global, multicultural, and diverse team environments
  • Ability in managing demanding timelines and delivering complex outcomes within a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in budget management, prioritization and goal setting, alongside adept project planning skills.
  • Showcase exceptional abilities in conflict management and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate strong trust-building and stress resilience.
