DISCOVER IMPACTFUL WORK:
Performs duties and training to acquire the skills required for sample and standard handling in support of the laboratory. Provides support to Sample Coordinator and performs administrative tasks in the Sample Management department. Follows SOPs, applicable client procedures, and fulfills laboratory requests with modest direct supervision.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
All shifts are trained to perform all the core sample processing functions, but typically First Shift is engaged in the initial receipt of boxes and processes individual samples using the Laboratory Information Management System "accessioning" screens. Second shift typically finishes up shipment receipts and starts the storage processes with samples on dry ice and in -70-degree Centigrade freezer units. Third shift is usually involved in finishing up storage activities, and in sample retrieval and storage space optimization within freezer units. We also handle some samples at -20 degrees, and some stored with liquid nitrogen, so you'll get experience with multiple environments!
