Human Resources Generalist - Adjunct and Graduate Assistant Services - CUNY Only
POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Associate Director of Teaching Instructional, CLT, Graduate Assistant and Research Staff Services, the HR Generalist's duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee and facilitate all employee actions for Adjunct (teaching & non-teaching) Services and Graduate Assistant Services
- Provide guidance to managers regarding employment processes and advise divisions/departments on applicable CUNY and CCNY policies and procedures
- Lead the on-boarding processes for Adjuncts and Graduate Assistant titles, including management of the hiring processes through HRIS systems including but not limited to CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) and the Adjunct Employee Management System
- Manage and troubleshoot issues with the AEMS system and act as a liaison to communicate with departments and employees to expeditiously resolve issues
- Work closely with Payroll to track payroll dates, submit spreadsheets for payments, and provide information to adjuncts on the status of their paychecks. Manage applicable tracking spreadsheets and reports to ensure all data is accurate
- Perform routine audits and work with Data Analyst to ensure CUNYfirst data is accurate and actions are reported timely and correctly
- Coordinate special projects, employee programs, and events. Create and conduct presentations and trainings. Prepare routine correspondences, electronic materials and documents
- Recommend workflow improvements
- May act on behalf of the HR Generalist for Non-Instructional Staff - HEO Series, CLT and Research titles in their absence
- May act on behalf of the Associate Director in their absence
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Administers various Human Resources functions and programs for one or more employee group(s) exercising discretion and independent judgment.
- Oversees two or more human resources functions for an employee group, such as, but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, employee relations, appointment administration, compensation, human resource information systems (HRIS), training and development, benefits, and/or administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensures human resources functions, programs, and actions are in compliance with university rules and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, employment laws, and college policies and procedures.
- Interprets and provides professional counsel and advice to employees and managers on HR programs and policies, CUNY rules, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable employment laws. Researches and resolves multifaceted human resources issues.
- Recommends new approaches, best practices, policies, and systems to improve office efficiency and services provided.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: $70,238 - $79,188. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
