The freight elevator supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of freight or cargo elevators within a facility. Their primary role is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, equipment, or materials using the elevator system.

Schedule: C Shift: Sunday - Every Other Wednesday 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00/hr DOE

The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on the applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

401(k) – You become eligible to make personal contributions beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment. You become eligible for the ABM match beginning the first of the month following six months of employment. ABM matches your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions, dollar for dollar, for the first 3%. For the next 2%, ABM contributes $0.50 for each dollar you contribute. Your contributions and match are immediately vested.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of the freight elevator, ensuring that it operates smoothly and efficiently. They may schedule elevator usage, assign elevator operators, and coordinate with other departments or teams that rely on the elevator system.
  • Safety is of utmost importance in the operation of freight elevators. The supervisor ensures that all safety protocols and regulations are followed, conducting regular inspections of the elevator equipment, and ensuring that necessary maintenance and repairs are carried out promptly. They will also provide training to elevator operators on safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • If any issues or malfunctions occur with the freight elevator, the supervisor is responsible for identifying the problem and coordinating repairs or maintenance with the appropriate technicians or service providers. They may also keep records of maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Elevator supervisors often serve as a point of contact for various stakeholders, including employees, vendors, and management. They may communicate information regarding elevator usage, restrictions, or any changes in procedures. Additionally, they may maintain records, logs, and reports related to elevator operations, maintenance, and incidents.
  • The supervisor will be responsible for managing a team of elevator operators or technicians. This involves providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure that the team operates efficiently and meets safety standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish, or professional working proficiency in Spanish.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience working with teams and organization leaders to achieve company initiatives.
  • 1-year supervisory experience
  • Flexibility and agility to be proactive, working effectively both with and without supervision.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools. Smartsheet knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to develop and coach employees successfully.
  • Must be comfortable working onsite in an office and on a construction site.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Conditions may require walking, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting (less than or equal to 30 pounds), bending, working in awkward positions handling equipment and materials. Conditions may also require working indoors and outdoors, in cold and hot temperatures, where humidity might be present. Working around machinery with moving parts including, forklifts, pallet jacks and aerial booms.

Employees will be required to wear protective clothing and/or respiratory equipment when conditions warrant.
