ABM Industries is seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman HVAC Technician to join our team supporting a local university campus. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and comfort across academic, administrative, and residential buildings.

Pay: $41.00 - 46.00/hourly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and emergency HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and split systems.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Install new HVAC systems and components in accordance with local codes and university standards.
  • Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to optimize energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Collaborate with university facilities staff and ABM team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and ABM policies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or HVAC certification preferred.
  • Valid Journeyman HVAC license in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial HVAC service and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building automation systems.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occupied spaces.
  • May require lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
  • This position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, often throughout the duration of a shift
