Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director’s Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department’s guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as digital asset manager and photographer in the creative services unit of the athletic department. There may also be opportunities to create other forms of content, such as video and/or graphic design. This position will report to the Assistant AD for Creative Strategy and Communications. The candidate will be responsible for editing, archiving and managing photo assets in digital management and distribution systems, while assisting the Director of Photography with requests from internal and external entities. This person will serve as a photographer at studio shoots, as well as practice, games and other team-related events. This is a full-time, 11-month position eligible for overtime.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proficiency required in photography and editing software, specifically the Adobe Creative Suite software including but not limited to Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Video shooting and editing experience, utilizing Adobe Premiere, is preferred but not required. Graphic design experience using Photoshop and AfterEffects is also preferred, but not required.
