Job Description:

A Brief Overview

The director will provide leadership, direction and management oversight for continuous improvement of the standard EVS operating model within the facility. Leads all operational coordination for environmental services for multiple sites. Provides staff leadership, makes sound business decisions in support of the hospital's mission; and supports the hospital's vision to be a leader in providing the best facility for patient care, safety, service and value. Manages the day to day operations of the department; ensures a consistently high level of cleanliness and appearance to patients, visitors and staff.

What you will do

  • Conduct and administer fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, and coordinating financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain computerized record management systems to store and process data such as personnel activities and information, and to produce reports.
  • Direct or conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel.
  • Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of technical, clerical, service, maintenance, and/or other personnel.
  • Establish objectives and evaluate operational criteria for units they manage.
  • Establish work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.
  • Inspect environment of all responsible areas to ensure compliance to safety, cleanliness, and processes are in compliance with regulatory bodies such as CIHQ and OSHA.
  • Conduct regular rounding and auditing of cleanable areas to produce data of strengths and opportunities using this data to hold staff accountable.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Vocational school or some college in a related field of the following, hospitality, healthcare, business, or Bachelors Degree. Preferred
  • 5 years in Environmental Services and /or other hospital related departments Required
  • 7 years in Director or Manager level experience particularly for management of staff Preferred
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
