Job Description:

Department Overview:

The US Sustainability team enables TD Bank to navigate sustainability-related risks and opportunities in a changing world by advancing the Bank's sustainability knowledge and strategy. The team serves as the corporate function responsible for monitoring and responding to the evolving sustainability landscape; develops sustainability positions and strategies for the Bank; educates colleagues on sustainability-related risks and opportunities; and works with key TD Bank business partners to address those risks and opportunities. The team also works closely with TD's global sustainability team to promote alignment with Enterprise-level goals and priorities.

This role reports to the Head of Sustainability (US) and leads a small team of colleagues responsible for sustainability strategy, policy, and governance.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Provides thought leadership on bank sustainability strategy
  • Develops appropriate sustainability goals for the bank and identifies corresponding initiatives
  • Builds close working relationships with key executive stakeholders to facilitate delivery against bank sustainability goals
  • Serves as a Trusted Advisor and analyzes a variety of information to provide timely notice on potential risks and regulatory or legislative direction as related to Sustainability strategy
  • Leverages internal and external best practices to drive efficiencies and quality
  • Reviews and actions as needed management reports that summarize the status of projects and work activities

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or progressive work experience in addition to experience below
  • 10+ Years of related experience required
  • Proven ability to manage complex initiatives with multiple stakeholder interests to successful completion
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience developing and delivering a complex strategy
  • Strong ability to influence the decisions and actions of others and to lead a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstration of conflict resolution, negotiation, and relationship building skills at all levels of management
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including excellent skills in preparing compelling and concise PowerPoint presentation decks
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to employees and management or assigned business lines and across the organization.
  • Travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior sustainability experience and/or education
  • Experience in strategy development and delivery
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint
  • People management experience
