Summary of Work

The Senior Claims Adjudicator is responsible for adjudicating Unemployment Insurance claim issues according to Federal and State unemployment laws and agency policies. This includes reviewing information from claimants and employers to determine benefit eligibility, correcting wage information, assigning benefit charge liability, and issuing appropriate determinations. As a point of contact for customer inquiries, you will answer questions and provide guidance regarding reemployment, benefit eligibility, claim filing, denials, payments, public applications, claim status, technical issues, and inquiries from local office staff.

The Senior Claims Adjudicator also coordinates activities within various programs (CWC, Wage Transfer, UCFE, UCX, Wage Protest, and TRA) to meet state and federal program requirements and metrics. This includes advising program requirements, coordinating updates, reconciling billing statements, resolving wage discrepancies, and potentially working with local offices and other agency staff.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have the following experience/education combination:

  • a high school diploma or equivalent plus
  • at least six years’ experience which included employment, claims, or processing information to assist client.

Education may substitute for the work experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred applicants will have knowledge of the unemployment insurance program and/or program administration experience. Preferred applicants should also be able to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills, communication and listening skills, assessment skills, attention to detail, and ability to work through various challenges and obstacles.
