Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Fraud Technology team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Daily basis
- Assist the Product Owner/Project Manager by conducting research and analysis, and accurately and clearly defining user requirements and processes to assist in the resolution of highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the needs of the supported Line of Business. This may involve participation in rapid prototyping, with requirements and solutions developed on an iterative basis, that provides interim deliverables until a final production solution is created.
- Participate in the systems implementation process by developing test cases, performing testing, defining user procedures and workflows, assisting in the development of conversion and implementation strategies, and providing user documentation, and user training.
- Data management
- Performs any necessary data mapping and data lineage activities and documents information flows to support specific business requirements.
- Builds the metadata model and business glossary by gathering information from multiple sources: business users, existing data sources, databases and other relevant documents and systems.
- Support
- Support the team on day-to-day activities such as coordinating stakeholders, managing and updating project management artifacts.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporate into in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Dimensions
- Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs
- Gathers requirements from business units and translates those to programmers and developers
- Demonstrates an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
- Help analyze current system to identify opportunities to improve system reliability
- May need to do User Acceptance testing from time to time
- Work in a cross functional Agile team to deliver core business and regulatory solutions.
Education / Experience / Other Information
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar degrees. Certification in Business Analyst preferred.
- 4+ experience working with analysis and design of new features.
- Working knowledge of project management lifecycles and methodologies (including Agile).
- Advanced knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, risk management methodologies and models, including best practices, current and anticipated regulatory requirements, back-office processes, and transaction workflows. end to end between Front, Middle and Back Offices, within at least one financial market area (e.g. foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives) and a very good knowledge of at least one other financial market area.
- Good understanding of current IT practices, and systems development techniques including requirements specification and testing methodologies, formal and real-time analytical modeling tools and keeping up to date with rapidly changing technology.
- You are excellent in written and spoken English to clearly communicate complex issues and interface with all levels of the organization with ease.
- Bilingual English/Spanish language skills (B2 English level)
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
