IT Communications is searching for a creative storyteller who’s excited about the future of technology for Vanguard. You’ll develop and execute strategic communication plans, support senior leaders including Vanguard’s Chief Information Officer, and adapt emerging technology research for an executive audience.
The ideal candidate has experience building communication strategies through the lens of the target audience. The role encourages those who veer away from the status quo to craft actionable, memorable, and easy-to-consume messages. You’ll have opportunities to produce communications that drive engagement for broad audiences and aid decision making for leaders, including Senior Staff.
You’ll work on a small team of consultants, writers, and designers who like to push the boundaries of traditional internal communications. You’ll determine the most effective channels, understand diverse audiences, and build partnerships across Vanguard to support IT divisional communications, enterprise-wide initiatives, and senior leadership.
The role seeks an experienced communicator comfortable with interacting with executives—but you’ll also have plenty of opportunities to learn. From generative AI, to blockchain, to quantum, you’ll collaborate with experts to adapt technical ideas for an executive audience. It’s an exciting time to be in technology, and in this role, you’ll be integral to Vanguard’s tech story and future.
Core Responsibilities
1. Provides consultation to develop communications solutions that drive identified outcomes. Translates business strategies and initiatives into messaging and content. Prioritizes communications and messages to maximize impact on target audiences and business outcomes.
2. Creates effective and compelling communications content based on deep understanding of target audience and the broader operating environment.
3. Drives the execution of all phases of the communications process, including conception, implementation, and measurement. Leads day-to-day communication activities.
4. Resolves conflicts over content or communication channel recommendations by acting as a trusted advisor to influence, coach, and negotiate with stakeholders.
5. Improves end-to-end communication processes by applying current and evolving industry standards, while complying with Vanguard brand. Proactively sources news and stories for broader application.
6. Develops and strengthens working relationships with key influencers across the organization and in the industry to support communications and business objectives.
7. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
