POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Compliance & Ethics reports to the Director, Compliance and Ethics and is responsible for implementing compliance risk assessments, training, monitoring, and testing across the corporate compliance and ethics program and providing day-to-day support to the organization related to compliance and ethics related matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Corporate Compliance Program Management

  • Conduct legal and compliance risk assessments and inform policy development.
  • Develop robust compliance testing plans and conduct compliance testing to provide assurance of effectiveness of compliance procedures.
  • Develop compliance training content to educate employees and third parties on key policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop compliance testing plans to provide assurance of compliance processes and identify opportunities to improve compliance programs for added efficiency or effectiveness.
  • Manage corporate compliance programs related to Travel & Expense, Gifts & Entertainment, and Conflicts of Interest by implementing procedures, monitoring and reporting to ensure compliance with organizational policy and standards and regulatory requirements related to travel and expenses, gifts and entertainment, and conflicts of interest.
  • Support compliance investigations and analysis as needed, collaborating with Legal, HR, Security, and IT, and other cross-functional stakeholders as applicable to address compliance concerns.

Other duties

  • Act as a trusted advisor for matters related to Compliance & Ethics, as needed.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying areas for improvements, opportunities to strengthen controls, and proactively address problems and gaps within scope of responsibility.
  • Work both independently and also in conjunction with peers and management to meet the business objectives of compliance processes and procedures.
  • Manage special projects as requested by the Director, Compliance & Ethics or the Vice President, Compliance & Ethics, or senior leadership.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

The ideal candidate will have significant experience supporting a large, global organization in the energy industry with experience and understanding with respect to policy governance, risk assessment, training, monitoring, and testing. The ideal candidate will have the ability to proactively identify and mitigate potential compliance risks by successfully planning, developing, and implementing compliance measures, as needed. The ideal candidate will also have the capability for leveraging and/or introducing enabling processes and technologies to advance compliance and ethics initiatives.

Technical Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of compliance and ethics frameworks, governance, risk assessment and analysis, and monitoring, reporting, and training.
  • Proven experience managing global corporate compliance and ethics programs effectively.
  • Proficiency in LNG operations, including the physical and financial trading of gas and LNG.

Competencies

  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work with individuals and groups from different disciplines.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to work both independently and collaborate with others within the organization.
  • Strong organizational abilities with an attention to detail. Has the flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid changes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment related to sensitive matters
  • Adds value by delivering work products of the highest quality, able to proactively overcome issues to ensure delivery

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Certifications:

  • BA or BS degree required.
  • Compliance related certification (Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or similar professional compliance certification preferred.
  • PMP, strongly preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) - ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated experience related to compliance and ethics.
  • Management experience leading projects and departmental staff.
  • Working knowledge of natural gas and LNG market and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a risk-based approach and good business judgment to handle sensitive matters related to compliance & ethics.
  • Demonstrated ability to explore and introduce new methods of working and enabling technologies to drive efficiencies and improve business outcomes to reach program goals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the broader business implication of decisions.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • May be required to work overtime
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
