This position is for a Training Technician (Machinist) within the Large Power Systems Division located in our Lafayette, IN facility. This position will provide a positive training experience and support a base foundation for new machinist. Training position will be located in Building A Training Room West. (classroom setting) Provides overall training and development needs of the facility and/or division. Needs are based on corporate, facility, and departmental goals for all shifts. Responsibilities are subject to change over time.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Facilitates verbal, visual, and hands-on training, for new employees, in a classroom setting.
• Conducts training assessments to ensure new employee knowledge retention.
• Supports training team with routine curriculum assessments. This may include updating coursework and job aids to satisfy improvement opportunities in the learning process.
• Monitors verbal, hands-on, and knowledge-based needs of employees.
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
• The candidate will be expected to fill-in for other training staff and determine the optimal way to complete job assignments and achieve desired results.
• This position will work with supervisors, technicians, and other support groups on updating content of training materials.
• Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of computer literacy in excel and power point software.
• The candidate must have good written and oral communication skills.
• Competence in interpretation of the relevant standard work documentation and engineering drawings is expected.
• Willingness to accept change and have a positive forward-thinking approach.
• Successful candidates must have machine shop experience.
• Basic Machinist Training (BMT) is a requirement prior to starting this position.

Note 1: The successful candidate will have to stay in this position for a minimum of 1 year apart from receiving a promotion.

Note 2: Candidate must stay in position for 6 months to receive credit for Quality experience on job bids.

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong computer literate and have prior knowledge of spreadsheet software.
• Must have good written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and will need to make frequent updates to management.
• Problem solving skills and understanding of the problem-solving techniques involved are required.
• Must have the willingness and ability to constructively work with various departments.
• Willingness to accept change and have a positive approach to customer service.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet goals and objectives.

Physical Requirements:

• Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.
• Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.
• All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.
• Must be able to work in heights and confirmed spaces.

• Location of this position is in Lafayette, IN
• Shift hours: 1st (7:30am-3:30pm)
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected applicant.
• 40-hour work weeks with potential for Overtime
• 18 Days/144 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO) - Prorated based upon start date

Summary Pay Range:

$25.90 - $33.00
