Job Overview
The Assistant Director Leadership Development TII is responsible for the implementation of the District comprehensive professional learning plan, implementation of professional learning aligned to district instructional priorities through the implementation of a teacher leadership framework to provide a systematic approach to provide opportunities for teachers to engage in specialized professional learning and promote leadership at various levels in the organization. The incumbent will provide strong leadership in the area of professional learning to promote the District's vision for Teaching and Learning.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, Organize, and Evaluate Professional Learning
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate the District comprehensive professional development plan
- Facilitate the alignment of systems for planning long range professional learning to meet District Goals
- Oversee the development and implementation of learning plans to support the development of leaders and teachers within Fort Bend ISD to ensure a systematic approach to the development of all educators in alignment with the Leadership Development Framework
- Facilitate the design, delivery, and evaluation of teacher leadership opportunities such as guided observations, cadres, academies, incentive programs, and other job embedded learning experiences
- Support the implementation of a clearing house for procurement and implementation of professional learning opportunities aligned to district instructional priorities
- Design, coordinate, and conduct professional learning opportunities aligned to district instructional priorities, best practices for adult learning, and technology programs
- Collect and analyze data to measure the implementation and impact on student achievement of district wide instructional priorities and initiatives
Instructional Leadership
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate a teacher leadership framework to promote specialized professional learning opportunities to teachers to support retention and incentive systems
- Collaborate with Department Leaders to facilitate the development of department learning plans to ensure common messaging among academic and operational divisions aligned to the District Strategic Plan.
- Support the development of Specialists and teacher leaders through job embedded support structures and collaboration with campus administration
- Develop and implement a district system for personalized professional learning for teachers and campus leaders
- Collaborate with various departments within the organization to create, implement, and monitor professional learning experiences that align with district instructional priorities
- Utilize job embedded professional learning to facilitate the implementation of district instructional priorities including balanced literacy, guided math, inquiry based instruction, and blended learning
- Support the development and expansion of job embedded professional learning opportunities designed to engage teachers and leaders in experiential learning and reflective practice to support the implementation of the written curriculum
- Serve as a facilitator for the Campus Support Team to engage in instructional walk-throughs and facilitate campus support structures in collaboration with campus principal and district leaders
- Engage in a continuous review and application of professional literature/development related to professional learning and development of research based best practices in instruction
- Attend state and national workshops/conferences and serve on committees to advance professional learning aligned to the comprehensive professional learning plan
Administrative
- Oversee, manage, and monitor the development and implementation of the teacher leadership framework and development of personalized professional learning coursework
- Oversee and manage the development of protocols to identify pools for the recommendation and hiring of staffing in instructional leadership positions
- Interview, recommend for hire, promote professional growth, and evaluate assigned staff members
- Collaborate to lead the recommendation, review, and implementation of professional learning consultants and resources aligned to district instruction priorities
- Collaborate with campus principals to develop and monitor implementation of yearlong campus based professional learning plans that align to district instructional priorities and campus improvement plans
- Prepare summary communication including summary reports and data related to teacher professional development
- Collaborate to develop,allocate, and reconcile expenditures for budgetary funds to support professional development programming
- Establish a system to track teacher participation in and implementation of professional learning in order to monitor impact on student achievement
- Establish community and university partnerships to advance professional learning opportunities
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and policies
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assist in the process of recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of assigned staff
- Initiate personnel actions including documentation and termination under the guidance of Human Resources
- Conduct performance appraisals of assigned staff
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Monitor the implementation of the comprehensive professional learning plan to ensure alignment to the District’s Mission and Vision

Qualification Requirements

- Master's Degree
- Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment
- Valid Texas Mid-Management or Principal Certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience
- Minimum of 5 years campus or district level leadership experience
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Ability to collaborate with various departments within the organization
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize effectively and work independently within guidelines
- Advanced knowledge and expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
