Salary Range (Grade F/483 Hay): $82,381.00 (Min) - $130,216.00 (Max)

UTLO Compression Rate: $125,011.00

Responsibilities:

The Deputy Superintendent manages, and controls activities of the hourly and supervisory personnel related to the inspections, repair, overhaul, cleanliness, and emergency response of the fleet. Responsibilities include directing and monitoring the overhaul procedure for cars and equipment; allocating resources; providing data for planning and budget forecasting; directing the implementation of new and/or revised work procedures; assisting with the development and repair/modification/overhaul operations for all cars and analyze repairs/modifications to be performed. The Deputy Superintendent provides support during emergency situations in their assigned Responsibility Center and is knowledgeable of the current collective bargaining agreement. He or she will assume the duties of Superintendent during his/her absence. In addition, the incumbent will ensure staff receives appropriate training, including specialized technical training and safety training.

Education and Experience:

Five (5) years of related experience, and two (2) years must have been in a NYCT managerial/supervisory capacity.

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of maintenance procedures, safety and emergency procedures, safety, and emergency procedures essential.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a maintenance environment, operating knowledge of maintenance, repairs, design, and construction of railcars.

Selection Method:

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
