Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.

Your Impact

You will work directly with client leaders and front-line operators on topics where implementation issues are important and where driving change is critical to the successful realization of organizational goals.

You will spend about 80% of your time working at the client location as part of consulting teams, helping to solve complex problems in the domains of product development and procurement.

This work includes, but is not limited to, end-to-end margin transformation, product- and organization-level EBITDA improvement, rationalizing product design based on competitive teardown analysis and customer insights, and building and implementing sourcing strategies.

You will also help client teams estimate product should-costs using clean-sheet costing, enabling the design of low-cost products.

Your work may extend to new product development, where you will focus on reducing development time, cost, and improving quality attributes. You may also conduct surveys to identify improvement areas within organizations to support effective and efficient product development, ultimately helping clients build sustainable R&D capabilities.

Other focus areas may include design-to-cost, design-to-value, global sourcing, commodity strategy, cost structure optimization, clean-sheet costing, supplier development, negotiation, strategic sourcing, cost-saving idea identification and leverage, cost reduction, spend analysis, and procurement transformation.

You will spend about 20% of your time developing cutting-edge knowledge related to the Product Development and Procurement (PDP) domain and delivering specialized remote services to clients. You will also contribute to building and maintaining McKinsey’s knowledge base on PDP-related topics.

You will build your expertise in PDP across advanced industries, including but not limited to automotive, consumer electronics, electric vehicles and batteries, semiconductors, and oil and gas.

You will be mentored by implementation experts with decades of industry experience and a strong track record of driving change in complex organizations.

You will also be supported by McKinsey’s world-class implementation toolkit, Impact Essentials—the ten elements essential to sustaining transformation impact—and a broad range of tools and assets designed to support successful implementation.

You will be based in one of our India offices - Bengaluru, Gurugram, or Mumbai - as a part of McKinsey Implementation in the Operations practice.
