The UW Tacoma School of Social Work and Criminal Justice (SSWCJ) serves approximately 350 graduate and undergraduate students, offering a Master of Social Work degree and a bachelor of arts in social welfare and a bachelor of arts in criminal justice. In addition, the SSWCJ offers an online degree completion option in criminal justice and is the only fully online major campus-wide. The SSWCJ has an outstanding opportunity for an Admissions Manager and Recruiter.
This individual will exercise a high level of independent judgment and act as a senior staff to manage admissions and provide recruitment and communication functions for the undergraduate and graduate programs within SSWCJ. In partnership with key school team members, this individual will develop an annual recruitment and communication plan, coordinate and provide successful recruitment and outreach activities, manage annual admissions cycles, and develop comprehensive marketing school and degree-program materials, and manage social media recruitment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Admissions Management (60%)
Coordinate and manage all SSWCJ graduate and undergraduate admissions processes for professional social work programs (MSW and BASW) and criminal justice (on-campus and online).
Oversee day to day work of admission staff to ensure proper file management.
May supervise, onboard and assist with training of student employee positions.
Create, update, and review application and admission materials annually, including web-based information, catalog, handbooks, policies, and associated procedures.
Coordinate and engage with Program Chairs and Directors or others as appropriate.
Coordinate and facilitate annual review cycles, Social Work Admissions Selection Committee Meetings, and determine admissibility for all SSWCJ applicants.
Set targets, monitor acceptances and final enrollments, and manage wait lists.
Review transcripts and transfer course equivalencies.
Oversee annual migration of admission e-files records retention process.
Provide data, reports, and information on enrollment statistics for the purposes of enrollment management and strategic planning.
Participate in the execution of new student onboarding and orientation activities and events; collaborate with advising team to ensure events are successful.
Manage MSW and BASW program post-admission administrative background check and Health Science Immunization Program (HSIP) processes.
Partner with Program Chairs and Directors to identify students who may need additional and ongoing supports through matriculation.
Act as a liaison for the SSWCJ and work with colleagues across UW Tacoma; in the Offices of Admissions and the Registrar to ensure successful admission and enrollment to the University; in the UW Seattle School of Social Work Office of Admissions; UW Graduate Admissions Office, and HSIP to stay current on policy or procedural updates.
Recruitment and Communication Activities (40%)
Recruit all SSWCJ students by arranging on and off campus recruiting events, including virtual modes to expand applicant pool.
Participate in campus open houses, transfer days, special events, and Graduate School Nights.
Deliver pre-admissions advising and guidance to those interested in applying to SSWCJ majors including prospective graduate students.
Establish, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive annual recruitment and marketing plan for SSWCJ to include targeted recruitment settings by enlisting feedback from stakeholders.
Prepare annual SSWCJ recruitment and advertising/marketing budget proposal with input from key campus partners; manage/monitor annual internal expenses.
Create and develop new opportunities for market reach, including community agencies, business settings, educational institutions, and government entities.
Build opportunities to engage SSWCJ alumni in recruitment, outreach, and retention strategies.
Coordinate all marketing and social media campaigns for undergraduate and graduate programs and evaluate effectiveness.
Collaborate with specialized practicum training programs to enhance recruitment efforts and promote all SSWCJ student scholarships and funding opportunities.
Update or coordinate new SSWCJ marketing and student outreach materials to include web and print publications.
Participate in strategic initiatives at campus and school levels to increase student recruitment and retention and provide opportunities to support student success.
As a member of SSWCJ’s advising team, represent and participate in university or SSWCJ activities or committees, task forces, and professional associations as appropriate.
Seek opportunities to engage the SSWCJ community in recruitment events and efforts as appropriate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and four years of culturally responsive admissions management and/or recruitment experience with students in a diverse higher education setting.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications, except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written skills, and experience giving public presentations.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in a dynamic, evolving environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and work a flexible schedule with some evening and/or weekend work.
Ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience compiling and presenting data.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field.
Experience with professional social work students or graduate students.
Social media, marketing, or public relations experience.
Program management skills.
Slate experience.
