Description

Work Performed:

  • A very wide variety of inspection operations on experimental parts or components

for use in experimental, prototype, or development aircraft only. Components that

are not attached to products currently in production. Inspection of rework can only

be performed on experimental or prototype parts.

  • Sets up, Operates, and Interprets quality inspection results from advanced

equipment and technology, including but not limited to Coordinate measuring

machines, non-contact metrology equipment, gear measurement machine, surface

analyzers and various other advanced integrated systems and makes complex

layouts and setups on surface plates to inspect a variety of part types to close

tolerances

  • Advises and assist engineers or other personnel in the development of new

inspection methods resulting in efficient and repeatable set-ups within an

inspection environment for use by all levels and capabilities on the equipment.

  • Performs a variety of inspections to include but not limited to: GD&T (geometrical

dimension and tolerances), complex surface plate layout, advanced caseset

interrogation, threaded features, hardness evaluation, linear dimensions, form

dimensions and gear tooth geometry.

  • Works from drawings, 3D models, engineering orders, sketches or verbal

instructions.

  • Advanced GD&T skills
  • Works to ensure safe operating conditions, and high standards of housekeeping of

assigned areas.

  • Effective level of written and verbal skills to sufficiently communicate information.
  • Works in a cross functional team

Qualifications

Tools & Equipment Used:

  • Coordinate measuring machines, non-contact metrology equipment, gear

measurement machine, surface analyzers and various other advanced integrated

systems.

  • Precision measuring instruments such as but not limited to, optical comparators,

Rockwell machines, profilometer, calipers, height gages, micrometers, precision

pins, indicators, gauge blocks, layout instruments and a variety of other precision

and advanced measuring instruments.

Experience & Other Requirements:

  • Five (5) years operating CMM or non-contact metrology equipment, or gear

measurement machine in the last seven (7) years or any combination of the three.

  • Inspecting with precsion measuring instruments such as optical comparitors,

Rockwell machines, micrometers, dial bore gauges, etc. is highly preferred.

  • Experience gained at Bell will count toward the required experience and other

requirements for job bidding purposes.

  • Until June 30, 2025 upgraded employees will have a thirty day (30) trial period in

the new job classification during which time they must demonstrate their ability to

meet the requirements for the job.
