Job Overview:

For this position of Assistant Vice President, on the Investment Management and Trading team, we are seeking a result-driven and goal-oriented AVP Tech - Software Development to create highly available and performant systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing high throughput, mission-critical business applications using Cloud-based technologies. They should be well-versed in financial, trading, and advisory technologies. As a technology-savvy leader, you will work with cross-functional teams to ensure development, deliver quality, and meet deadlines. This hands-on technical lead role in the trading organization will involve designing, architecting, and developing cloud-native and on-prem services to support LPL’s overall strategy and transformation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a tech team to design, develop, test and implement highly available and scalable technical solutions based on business requirements and strategic direction.
• Deep understanding and seasoned on AWS platform and Cloud DevOps.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including architecture, data, product, and business partners, and strategies to scale and modernize existing trading platforms.
• Work collaboratively with quality assurance engineering teams, DevOps and PMO to ensure all SDLC processes and Agile best practices are followed.
• Code and implement guardrails to enable self-service and frictionless delivery allowing teams to build and own end-to-end applications and services in the cloud.
• Formulating workable solutions to complex challenges, logically deliberating on courses of action by examining and challenging assumptions, discerning hidden value, objectively evaluating evidence, and assessing conclusions.
• Measure success by say/do, velocity, defect remediation, and clear value to the trading platforms.
• Provide technical leadership to teammates through technical design and implementation of industry best practices adhering to LPL’s modernization practices, cloud practices, SDLC and release management processes.
• Provide production support, maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and enhance trading platforms/applications.
• Ensure service level agreements and contingency activities are covered related to system/application availability ensuring zero Advisor experience disruption.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of progressive experience in owning and driving full stack applications as hands-on Engineering Tech Lead - guiding, solutioning, delivering, and documenting team’s development efforts towards successful project delivery and application support
• 8+ experience with the following technologies: .NET core, AWS/Azure with Kubernetes and Docker, SQL/Postgres/MongoDB, Kafka, Microservices, Angular, and Typescript
• 6+ years of experience with designing scalable APIs using containers over Docker/Kubernetes
• Familiarity with caching techniques and stores such as Elasticache, Redis, GridGain, etc.
• Experience with front-end platforms, like Angular and Nx.Js, along with test platforms such as Cypress, Jest, etc.

Core Competencies:

• Experience with owning and production support of mission-critical applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
• Strong estimation, foresight, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interface effectively with senior SVP/EVP level executives and business stake holders.
• Capable of effectively planning, prioritizing and executing tasks utilizing resources and tools.

Preferences:

• Experience working in a trading domain with knowledge of backend trading and order execution workflows
• Experience working with global delivery teams
• Experience with event-driven architecture and stream processing with Kafka or similar technologies
• Experience in capital markets with a strong understanding of trading intraday flows and the financial industry

Pay Range:

$140,475-$234,125/year

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
