The Physician will:

  1. Provide professional services to the Hospital’s patient population (including but not limited to assessment, treatment and management of care) and assure continuity of care for those patients assigned to Physician. The professional services provided shall be consistent with the requirements in place at the time for all applicable federal, state and local regulatory entities (including, without limitation, The Joint Commission).
  2. As may be reasonably required by the Hospital, work with designated Hospital administrators to provide input into each Practice Location’s budgets, capital expenditures, strategic planning and marketing.
  3. As may be reasonably required by the Hospital, assist with the selection, supervision and evaluation of each Practice Location’s staff.
  4. As may be reasonably required by the Hospital, assist the Hospital in recruitment of additional physicians to the area served by the Hospital.
  5. Participate in utilization management, quality improvement, patient satisfaction programs and committees as may be reasonably requested by the Hospital.
  6. Participate in such teaching or community benefit programs or other activities as may be reasonably requested by the Hospital from time to time.
  7. Participate in after hours and on call coverage as may be indicated for patient care and practice needs.
  8. Provide and perform such other services as may reasonably be requested by the Hospital from time to time.

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the Physician. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties of the Physician.

Duties of Associate director

Without limiting the remaining provisions of this Agreement, the Physician shall have the following duties and responsibilities as the Hospital’s Associate Director of Multiple Sclerosis:

        1. In collaboration with the Director, Multiple Sclerosis Care Center, oversee the provision of multiple sclerosis (MS) services and the educational aspects of same, including providing oversight and direction to the nursing and technical staff as needed
        2. Promote adherence to national established guidelines related to maintaining the Hospital’s designation as a Partner in MS Care Center for Comprehensive MS Care (National MS Society).
        3. Assist in reviewing and analyzing performance data and/or retrospective chart reviews as needed.
        4. Participate in regulatory agency surveys as needed.
        5. Serve as a role model, resource, and mentor for the care of MS patients.
        6. Interface with medical professionals and administrators in other Hospital departments and throughout the Montefiore health system to ensure highest quality patient care.
        7. Work with designated Hospital administrators to provide input into strategic planning, education programs, service enhancement and growth, provide input on budget, marketing, research, and other areas of development within the service, and work collaboratively with hospital leadership for implementation of initiatives.
        8. Develop and implement the MS/neuroimmunology research strategy in alignment with the Hospital’s clinical and academic goals and provide leadership in the design, execution, and management of clinical trials and research studies as appropriate.
        9. Attend committee and board meetings as needed.
        10. Provide such other services as are required and expected of a person providing services as an associate director of multiple sclerosis at a hospital.
