If you want to join a company invested in you and your success, join us as a Traffic/ITS Engineer to join our Midwest Advanced Mobility (AM) group.

As our newest team member, you’ll play a role in the development of plans, specifications and estimates for intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic signal design, traffic studies and other traffic engineering work tasks. Joining our team, you’ll have the chance to apply your experience to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects and utilize your ITS and traffic expertise to create innovative solutions.

When you join us, you'll be responsible for the following:

  • Perform traffic-related design tasks including traffic signals, lighting, and ITS.
  • Develop plans, prepare technical specifications, develop quantities and estimates, complete peer reviews, and compile design documentation
  • Coordinate with design discipline leads and assist in cross-functional team management
  • Perform traffic analysis, signal timing optimization, and prepare technical reports
  • Mentor younger staff, help distribute work, and provide technical guidance
  • Promote Jacobs quality control practices through all phases of design and plans production
  • Assist project managers in developing project scopes, proposals, and fee estimates
  • Contribute to business development efforts by participating in client meetings and proposal preparation
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects, managing schedules, budgets, and client communications
  • Support project managers in resource allocation and workload management
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project execution plans
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the traffic engineering practice

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in transportation engineering with an emphasis in traffic
  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads)
  • Knowledge of and experience using traffic modeling software (Synchro/Sim Traffic, and HCS)
  • Knowledge of traffic signals, lighting, and ITS

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Experience working with WisDOT and Wisconsin municipalities
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience in project management and mentoring staff

The base salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $120,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
