Senior Automation Engineer (Remote)

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Automation Engineer to support a large-scale pharmaceutical automation program. This role will be instrumental in aligning automation solutions with program standards, mentoring technical leads, and ensuring consistency and compliance across deliverables. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in DeltaV DCS systems and a strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing automation.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until July 11th, 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $93,000 - $107,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Location: This is a remote position open to qualified applicants across the United States. Candidates must be willing to travel to the client site in Muskegon, MI for extended durations during critical project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with program technical offices to align automation solutions with overall program philosophy and standards.
    • Work closely with Digital/MES workstream leads to ensure cohesive automation and digital integration.
    • Provide technical mentorship to area leads and ensure adherence to standards.
    • Ensure consistency across automation deliverables including requirements, specifications, control strategies, and recipes.
    • Participate in P&ID and control strategy reviews.
    • Assist in defining and modifying software components.
    • Communicate progress, issues, and needs to the automation project manager.
    • Review and approve functional requirements and specifications.
    • Support creation of parameter and recipe specification documents.
    • Respond to system integrator technical queries.
    • Support development of software testing strategies.
    • Identify and plan remediation efforts for process control software.
    • Track and manage issues post-software acceptance.
    • Identify and analyze technical risks and plan mitigation strategies.
    • Maintain compliance with training and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Computer) or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 7 years of automation experience in the pharmaceutical industry (preferably API/bulk manufacturing).
    • Proven experience in large pharmaceutical automation projects/programs.
    • Strong expertise with DeltaV DCS systems.
    • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is preferred.
    • Deep understanding of GMP, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation.
    • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
