What’s the role?

The Scalable Growth team design, build, and maintain a huge chunk of our landing pages and SEO products. These products educate, engage, and solve problems for potential TransferWise customers and include price comparison pages, currency converters, email rate alerts, the invite programme, the TransferWise blog…..and lots more.

These pages and products are read by over a million people, every single month. They’re a big opportunity for growth. And an even bigger opportunity for a sharp copywriter to get their words in front of millions of people, all over the world.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be the first (and only) writer in a team of data scientists, marketers, and analysts. So you’ll need to be a natural collaborator. But you’ll also challenge where necessary, think big, and be comfortable explaining the ‘why’ behind your decisions. You’ll:

  • Take the lead on all copy that comes out of the Scalable Growth team, delivering work that’s on point, on time, and bang on brand.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, SEO specialists and marketers to build products and pages that solve problems for potential customers.
  • Shape how we talk about complex financial concepts — like price and exchange rates, for instance. And experiment and iterate until you get to a place that works.
  • Work closely with copywriters in London, New York, and Singapore to hone the TransferWise TOV, share expertise, and build consistency across everything we write.

About you

  • You’re a sharp, conversion-focused copywriter, with 3-5 years experience of writing for challenger brands, consumer tech, or regulated industries.
  • You deliver clear, straight-forward copy. And your portfolio shows how the words you’ve written have made a positive impact.
  • You’ve got a strong interest in SEO, and you’re willing to learn more about search.
  • You’re versatile — the bulk of your experience is probably digital. But you’re just at home defining bigger picture stuff (like guidelines or glossaries) as you are crafting a killer CTA.
  • You’re curious. You want to understand how your words can make a difference. So you’ve got a proper understanding of CRO and A/B tests. And you’re comfortable drawing on sources like Google Analytics and Mixpanel to inform your decisions.
  • You thrive more on independence than structure — and you come ready-equipped with a thick skin and a sizeable sense of humour.

People rely on TransferWise to send their hard-earned money abroad, so they need to trust us. Understand us. And hopefully like us, too. At the same time, we need to show them how the international banking system rips them off, and how we’re changing that. Clear, approachable writing is crucial for all of those things.

No one will be telling you what to do. You’ll be your own boss. But you’ll get tons of support from your colleagues. Not to mention tons of feedback.
