The Opportunity
As General Manager you will be fully responsible for the performance and profitability of the plant facility. This includes managing and focusing on measures associated with safety, quality, cost, and productivity and focusing on strategic expansion by increasing local and regional sales.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
- Improve the plant’s profitability and ensure all safety and quality requirements are met.
- Drive facility’s focus on Safety, Quality, Cost and Productivity along with No Fail Basics methodology throughout the organization
- Develop and implement business plans that align with company goals and overall strategic vision for Division.
- Build a high performing team and work collaboratively to drive change initiatives within the organization.
- Drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives tied to the strategic business direction.
- Build partnerships with your Divisional Sales Managers to identify facility growth opportunities and maintain relationships with key accounts.
- Oversee sales and production to meet short-term and long-term divisional objectives to achieve optimum efficiency.
- Build effective alliances with other Business Units, Human Resources, Sales, Logistics, Production, Safety and Quality Managers to better serve customers that cross multiple business units.
- Foster employee development through training and other resources
- Promote diversified recruiting, hiring, training, and managing of facility staff.
- Ensure all safety and environmental compliance issues are addressed on a timely basis.
- Recommend and justify capital expenses that suit both short- and long-term goals of the facility.
- Cultivate our involvement and dedication to Performance Excellence programs
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- College degree preferred; High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 7-10 years equivalent related industry experience; at least 4 years prior management experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
- Budget development and oversight experience; Must have experience understanding and interpreting Profit and Loss statements, profitability statements, and sales forecasting. Must be able to create insightful reports that consume data from the above-mentioned software. Must have the ability to create and adhere to capital project justifications.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to engage multiple functions (technical, engineering, general management) within a business.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); and other applications as required.
- Proficient with AS400, KIWI, Qlikview, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
