We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious CNC Machinist to join our team at our Kaiser Aluminum wholly owned subsidiary Imperial Machine & Tool Company in Columbia New Jersey. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, as it involves working with high-speed machinery, sharp cutting tools, and heavy materials in a manufacturing environment. Hourly rate is $30.00 to $42.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
What you will work on:
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce high-precision parts.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate production.
- Perform quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain specifications.
- Handle, move, and position raw materials and finished parts, adhering to proper lifting techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following OSHA and company safety standards.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, defects, or unsafe conditions.
- Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when performing maintenance or troubleshooting equipment.
Safety and Physical Requirements:
- Must follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves as necessary.
- Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, kneel, and use hands to handle tools and materials.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques; mechanical lifting aids must be used for heavier loads.
- Exposure to loud noise, metal shavings, and industrial lubricants; adherence to hearing conservation programs and proper ventilation guidelines is required.
- Awareness of potential hazards, including rotating machinery, high temperatures, and pinch points, with a focus on maintaining safety at all times.
- Compliance with OSHA regulations, including hazard communication, machine guarding, and emergency response procedures.
