Job Description
The purpose of this position is to spread the message of the restored Church of Jesus Christ around the world. This is accomplished in part through the creation of engaging, unified messaging with greater reach and efficiency. Church messages are delivered via television, film, web, print, mobile, social media, and other delivery channels in multiple languages. We always seek new, improved, and more innovative ways to bring the world unto Christ.
This position ensures that assignments to interpret Church doctrine and policy are correctly interpreted in video recordings and live broadcasts to their target language.
Responsibilities
This position reports directly to Global Interpretation Manager.
- Up to 60% - Assigns, coordinates and monitors interpretation work originating from Church headquarters from the Interpretation supervisor. Interpretation coordinator staffs recording needs from multiple languages in a timely manner assigning contract interpreters at Church Headquarters and works together with the area offices to staff talent in multiple languages for events as needed.
- Up to 10% - Assists in distributing all necessary production documentation including script breakdowns, schedules, talent lists, calendars, and call sheets.
- Up to 10% - Assists in interpretation event logistics as needed.
- Up to 10% - Assists in contract renewals and uses payment software to create purchase orders
- Up to 5% - Works through the Interpretation Supervisors and language leads in assisting the Interpretation language specific training, including feedback, with the Area offices and/or with the local team members of the target language.
- Up to 5% - Assists in recruiting interpreters from the ranks of local, active Church members.
- Non-responsibilities: HR support (final hiring, performance, pay decisions) for interpreters
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree; preference given to degree in translation, linguistics or related field
- 3 years' work experience in supervisor/training role or equivalent in work.
- The nature of this work requires on-call attendance at any time as needed including, weekends and evenings.
- Mastery of spoken and written English.
- Native-like mastery of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax of the target language is preferred.
- Must be able to work well under pressure, and to give clear instructions.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Knowledge of word processing functions, spreadsheets and an understanding of language recording is preferred.
- Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and organization.
- Staffing language talent and needs for multiple languages for interpretation events as needed.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication
