POSITION: Facilities Manager
DEPARTMENT: Great Hearts Lead Office - Facilities
LOCATION: Various locations
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities Management
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Position Summary
Under the direction and leadership of the Director of Facilities Management and Construction, the Facilities Manager will work towards implementation of standards set for safety, security, building conditions, and cleanliness. They will be primarily responsible for the supervision of facilities technicians, coordinating and directing maintenance and repairs of all GH Campuses, alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise department staff as assigned, facilities technicians. Travel to multiple campuses to review work and assist as needed on special projects. Perform annual staff evaluations.
- Monitor/assist contractors and outside vendors performance to ensure work is completed according to specifications. Solicit bids and quotes from vendors.
- Ensures regulatory compliance, work standards, codes and safety regulations for the facilities are complied with for a safe working environment. Participates in the development and implementation of compliance activity in all areas of responsibility. Knowledgeable of all applicable building codes and standards.
- Assist in budget development regarding CapEx, major maintenance, and school maintenance and repairs budgets. Responsible for managing School CapEx projects and major maintenance projects.
- Assist with maintaining building safety and security policies and procedures, and immediately responds to building emergencies as needed.
- Perform routine quality control inspections of janitorial and landscaping subcontractors to ensure property is maintained properly.
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure logs and documentation for emergency equipment monthly/annually and/or as needed are being maintained and accurate.
- Coordinate and monitor fire/life safety annual inspections, and all other system, building, and compliance inspections. Have working knowledge of alarm panels and systems for drills and maintenance purposes.
- Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Great Hearts Academies with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our cultural behaviors of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty each and every day.
- Perform duties as assigned. Attend department meetings as scheduled.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
- Associates Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
- 10 years of Facilities maintenance experience
- 5 years of Supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CAD experience preferred
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
- Ability to lift 50lbs+
- Ability to move or position equipment in excess of 100lbs.
- Be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time inside and outside
Additional Requirements
Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.
Equipment used: May need to possess basic tools to perform duties. Specialty tools with be provided.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May work in confined spaces and on top of buildings or structures. Will be exposed to inclement weather.
Travel required: Will need to travel locally to various academies within the Phoenix Metro area. Must have reliable transportation. Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.
