The Senior Principal Regulatory Project Manager, in the Product Regulatory Office (PRO) within the Integration & Support division, contributes to AHM’s mission by ensuring Honda’s various functions understand and comply with relevant regulations. This role supports the advancement of competitive and compliant products and services, delivering maximum benefit to Honda and society.
The Senior Principal Regulatory Project Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with new regulations by combining deep regulatory knowledge with business acumen. This role requires expertise in regulatory matters, with the ability to contextualize and understand implications, and effectively communicate them to cross-functional stakeholders. The Project Manager will identify emerging regulations, develop and lead execution of comprehensive project plans, and ensure organizational awareness of compliance status and risks. Additionally, they will collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams, influencing and impacting the organization through strategic regulatory insights. The role involves developing new regulatory policies and processes, ensuring seamless integration into business operations, and driving organizational change to maintain compliance across all departments. As a leader, the Senior Principal Regulatory Project Manager will inspire and guide teams, fostering a culture of proactive regulatory adherence and continuous improvement.
Compliance Planning and Execution:
Identify compliance obligations that apply to Honda by establishing processes with expert groups and leveraging Honda’s existing legislative and regulatory sensing & tracking processes.
Lead and/or facilitate compliance action by activating expert-group projects or establishing matrixed compliance teams.
Develop and implement comprehensive project plans (including scope, objectives, and deliverables) to ensure compliance with new or changing regulations.
Align regulatory strategies with business objectives to drive organizational success.
Track and report progress to company compliance and risk leadership to ensure broad transparency of Honda’s risk and compliance status
Regulatory Consultation and Support:
Provide expert regulatory advice and support to internal stakeholders, leveraging expert advisors as necessary.
Interpret and contextualize regulatory requirements to ensure clear understanding across the organization.
Develop training programs to enhance regulatory knowledge and compliance and ensure sustainability.
Address regulatory inquiries and issues promptly and accurately.
Assist teams in the regulatory reporting processes to ensure accurate, complete, and timely reporting
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
Foster strong relationships with diverse cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive regulatory compliance efforts and improve compliance culture.
Communicate regulatory insights and implications effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Influence and impact organizational decision-making through strategic regulatory guidance.
Facilitate collaboration between departments to integrate regulatory policies seamlessly and sustainably into business operations.
Engage with government agencies, trade organizations, or through legal counsel as appropriate to advocate on Honda’s behalf.
Regulatory Monitoring, Understanding, and Reporting:
Continuously monitor emerging regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
Maintain up-to-date and detailed knowledge of regulatory changes and trends.
Prepare, present and maintain detailed documentation and reports on compliance status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities as required
Leadership and Organizational Change:
Inspire and guide teams to foster a culture of proactive regulatory adherence and continuous improvement.
Drive organizational change to enhance compliance across all stakeholders.
Mentor and develop regulatory staff to build a strong compliance team.
Promote a proactive approach to regulatory challenges and opportunities
Developing New and Sustainable Regulatory Policies and Processes:
Identify and analyze regulatory requirements to develop new policies and processes.
Ensure policies and processes are sustainable and adaptable to future regulatory changes.
Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate new policies into business operations.
Continuously evaluate and improve regulatory policies to maintain compliance and efficiency.
