JOB SUMMARY:
Provides customer service to the patients, family members and visitors of Pikeville Medical Center. Assists in meeting the needs of patients and family members in a manner that projects the medical center’s mission and commitment to excellence in patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Greets and assists medical center patients, visitors, and physicians entering the medical facility in a friendly and helpful manner.
2. Recognizes the need for and provides emotional support and comfort measures for families and guests of the patient. Shows respect and conveys warmth and compassion. Contacts Chaplain Department when deemed necessary. Offers area for privacy.
3. Answers the department telephone in a professional and timely manner consistent with the medical center mission, routing telephone calls and/or messages to appropriate individual.
4. Transport/escort patients and their family members to designated areas. Focus on the customer’s needs, including special and individual needs.
5. Responsible for ensuring waiting room is clean, neat, and orderly.
6. Adheres to dress code.
7. Adheres to medical center policies addressing infection control, safety, and personnel
guidelines.
12. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.
13. Maintains patient confidentiality and treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
14. Functions as a preceptor to orient new employees.
15. Performs other related duties and assigned or requested.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:
High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
1 year job related experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in well-lighted business office environment the majority of the time
There is a potential for being at risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals when working. Information regarding hazards and protective measures along with training on handling and storage of hazardous materials will be provided prior to initial assignment to work with hazardous chemicals, whenever the hazard changes, and on an annual basis.
