Job Objective:

Summer interns provide assistance to the land department while gaining valuable experience and insight regarding the inner workings of a land department and the land department’s role within the upstream oil and gas organization.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the landmen, land techs and the field brokers with day to day tasks including:
  • Assist in-house landmen with mailing out Authorization for Expenditures “AFE” to working interest partners
  • Assist in-house landmen with ownership research
  • Assist field landmen with title research at the county courthouse
  • Assist field landmen with negotiating surface access and road/pipeline right-of-ways.
  • Work royalty owner hot line desk
  • Assist GIS Tech with mapping projects
  • Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • The summer intern will spend at least two to three weeks in the field working with our lead broker in one of Hilcorp’s various leasing or pipeline right-of-way projects. Locations include South Texas, Pennsylvania or Ohio.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with an oil and gas company land department or experience with an independent landman is preferred but not required.

Education Requirements:

  • Progressively working towards a Bachelor of Business Administration in Energy Management, Energy Commerce, Petroleum Land Management, or equivalent degree from an A.A.P.L. accredited program.
  • Progressively working towards a Juris Doctorate, preferred.
